  • Original document or certified copy (depending on document type)
  • Legible document with no alterations or corrections

Our Process

  1. 1

    Identify what you need

Different visa types and purposes require different documents. Common items include birth certificates, marriage certificates, criminal background checks, and degree certificates.

  2. 2

    Notarization (if required)

A notary public or authorized official certifies your document as a true and accurate copy.

  3. 3

    Apostille or ministry authentication

For Hague Convention countries, an apostille confirms the document for international use. For others, the document is legalized through the relevant government ministry.

  4. 4

    Embassy or consulate legalization

Some Thai processes require a final legalization stamp from the Thai embassy in the issuing country.

  5. 5

    Certified translation

If your document is not in Thai or English, a certified translator provides an accepted translation.

Many Thai visa and immigration processes require foreign documents to be officially authenticated before they are accepted. This process is known as legalization or apostille certification, and the exact steps depend on the type of document and the country that issued it.

Common documents that require legalization include criminal background checks (for retirement and long-term visas), birth and marriage certificates (for dependent visas and name change processes), university degrees (for work permits), and company registration documents (for business visas).

Visa Siam coordinates the entire legalization chain on your behalf, whether that means obtaining an apostille from your home country’s authority or navigating a multi-step embassy legalization process.
